Release time:2025-04-21
The Israeli army announced on Sunday the death of a senior Hezbollah official, whom it identified as the deputy head of the Shiite group's 4400 unit, Hussein Ali Nasser, in its air strikes against southern Lebanon.
"Nasser was working to transport weapons and funds to the Lebanese state in order to rebuild Hezbollah's military capabilities," Israeli forces said in a statement.
Israel accused the alleged militant of collaborating with "Iranian agents" to facilitate the transfer of weapons and funds to Lebanon through Beirut's international airport.
Later, the forces acknowledged new attacks on southern Lebanon, targeting rocket launchers and other infrastructure of the Shiite group in the Nabatiye area and against a militiaman responsible for engineering work.
"These activities of the terrorist organization Hezbollah constitute a flagrant violation of the agreements between Israel and Lebanon," the Israeli military said in a new message.
The Emergency Operations Room of the Lebanese Ministry of Public Health said this morning that a first attack was "carried out by the Israeli enemy against a car in the town of Kaouthariyet al Saiyad" and caused "the death of one person and two other injuries".
More attacks followed, in which at least one other person was killed, according to Lebanese authorities.
In recent weeks, Israel has intensified its bombardment of Lebanese territory and even at the end of March bombed the outskirts of Beirut for the first time since the entry into force of a ceasefire between the parties last November, something it also did again a few days later.
