They ask to reinforce the presence of the National Guard on highways and customs in the north of the country

The Northern Border Affairs Committee in the Senate approved a point ofagreement to request the reinforcement of the presence of the NationalGuard (GN) on federal roads and customs in the northern region of thecountry.
The document issued calls on the Ministry of National Defense (Sedena) toevaluate the increase in the number of troops in charge of public securitytasks at these points, essential for commerce.
Likewise, the Ministry of Infrastructure, Communications andTransportation (SICT) is requested to assess the maintenance work on theregion's road infrastructure, and monitor compliance with the obligationsof the road concessionaires.
Similarly, the National Customs Agency of Mexico was urged to evaluatethe services offered on the northern border, in order to identifyimprovements that strengthen foreign trade processes.
In this regard, Senator Juan Carlos Loera de la Rosa, who chairs theCommission, stressed that it is necessary to facilitate and provide securityfor the transport of goods on the roads that connect Mexico and theUnited States.
He added that in addition to insecurity, the physical condition of highwaysand roads is another critical issue, since it causes delays in customs service,which limits the country's competitiveness.
National Guard Commission Created
The Senate of the Republic approved the creation of the National GuardCommission, which will operate during the LXVI Legislature and will bechaired by Senator Juanita Guerra Mena.The commission will be made up of the senators appointed by agreementof the Political Coordination Board, in accordance with the plural andequitable representation of the different parliamentary groups.
