Cumbres de Maltrata: SICT plans to free lanes by 2025

The Ministry of Infrastructure, Communications and Transportation(SICT) reported that the release of lanes on the Acatzingo-CiudadMendoza highway, at the height of Cumbres de Maltrata, will begin onthe last day of January and will conclude in April 2025.
On a work tour in Orizaba, Veracruz, Jesús Antonio Esteva Medina, headof the SICT, explained that on January 31, 2025, two lanes of the highwayin Cumbres de Maltrata will be freed.
Meanwhile, the total release of the section is expected by the end ofApril, after the landslide that occurred in October and that since then hasmodified the operation of the cargo truck, as well as the rest of the usersof that important road.
“Work is being done on the stabilization of the land so that on January 31 thevehicular passage in two lanes will be freed and by the end of April we will havethe definitive solution to the passage, in the 10.5-meter section," said EsteMedina.

During the inauguration of the IMSS-Bienestar de Salud Mental Dr. VíctorM. Concha Vásquez Hospital, the head of the SICT added that the teamworking in Cumbres de Maltrata freed seven vehicles that were trapped inthe area.
He explained that three units that were buried were tractor-trailers loadedwith diesel, one with 30,000 liters and the remaining two with 60,000 literseach.
After the landslide on the Cumbres de Maltrata road, 38 workers and 26machines have intervened; In these months of work, the ground wasstabilized through anchors and geophysical studies and other analyseswere carried out to give way to a definitive solution to the situation.
Esteva Medina acknowledged that the collapse in Cumbres de Maltrataaffects users and said that the roads are patched so that they are in perfectcondition for transit.
